Frequently Asked Questions
Dietitian or Nutritionist? What's the difference?
A dietitian is a licensed professional who has completed thorough education and testing to provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling. A nutritionist can be defined more loosely as someone who has an undergraduate or graduate degree in nutrition but may not be a licensed professional. In some states, the only providers who can call themselves nutritionists are dietitians (like Tennessee, where I’m licensed).
Who can work with me for 1:1 nutrition counseling?
Providing virtual medical nutrition therapy (MNT) or nutrition counseling by a dietitian is regulated by state licensure. I am able to provide 1:1 virtual counseling for clients who reside in the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, HI, ID, IN, MA, MI, NH, NY, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY.
What does trauma have to do with nutrition?
I’m glad you asked, I wrote a blog post about it here.
